Photo Rejuvenation
An Intense pulse light (IPL) is a treatment breakthrough that can correct many skin conditions without virtually any down time, creating clearer, more vibrant and youthful skin through a process called Photo-Rejuvenation. Two to five treatments are recommended. The IPL device produces a bright beam of light which lightens up pigmented brown spots causing them to gently flake off in a few days.
The device also gently coagulates and removes blood vessels below the skins surface without the bruising associated with other laser treatments. Photons stimulate new production of collagen for improvement in fine lines and skin tone. The 15-30 minute treatment requires a clear gel be applied to the skin followed by the pulsing of the bright light though a chilled sapphire crystal which is applied to the skin. Most clients note a dramatic removal of brown spots, redness, broken capillaries and improvement of fine lines and wrinkles.
Frequently asked Questions about Photo rejuvenation
What is it?
It is a series of gentle treatments what will gradually improve the texture of your skin, decrease redness and broken capillaries and also lighten dark spots on your skin. You may also notice that your pores may appear tighter and some fine lines may disappear.
Who can have it?
Males and females with broken capillaries, a flushing appearance, brown spots enlarged pores, mild wrinkles, rosacea, freckles and hyper pigmentation.
What conditions can be treated?
Fine lines, wrinkles, age spots, small facial veins, rosacea, redness/flushing, freckles, brown spots, birthmarks, port wine stains, red spots, enlarged pores, burn scars and hyper-pigmentation.
What areas of the body can be treated?
Any area of the body can be treated. The most common areas are the face, chest, neck, upper back, shoulders, chest, forearms and back of hands.
How does it work?
The IPL "Intense Pulse Light" pulses into the skin. The colors in the light are attracted to browns, reds, and deeper collagen tissue. The heat generated from the light targets and vaporizes the browns, coagulates the reds and heats the collagen. The body's healing mechanisms then take over and slough the browns, absorbs the reds and thickens the collagen.
How many treatments do I need?
The average number of treatments is 3-5, one treatment every three to four weeks. Clients with brown or pigmented skin will notice a significant change after 2 treatments. Clients with red, flushed skin will notice a change after 3 treatments. Further treatments will continue to improve the color, texture and pore size of the skin.
How long does a session take?
Anywhere from 15-30 minutes. Generally a full face would take approximately 30 minutes to complete but larger areas take longer time.
Does It Hurt?
There is a mild stinging sensation but it is very tolerable. The treated area will be covered with a cold gel to help reduce the heat sensation.
What can I expect after Treatment?
You may experience some redness that should resolve within a few hours. For some pigmented lesions you will see a darkening of the treated areas followed by fading and flaking off at a later stage. Your treated skin will feel smoother, fine wrinkles and pores will be less noticeable and sun spots or uneven pigmentation will fade. Results depend on your condition, number of treatments and the area being treated.
